Right after her victory over Aryna Sabalenka in Madrid, Iga Świątek was already in Rome on Sunday, May 6. Before starting her training for the next tournament, she found some time to rest and recover. She visited one of her favorite spots in the Italian capital, the restaurant "La Vittoria", which she has been visiting regularly for several years. On her Instagram profile, a photo appeared showing her enjoying spaghetti. "Ciao Roma" reads the caption.
The restaurant owner also reacted to the Pole’s visit. "Welcome home, champion. It’s always an honor to host you here, thank you" - was posted on the restaurant's profile. Besides main courses, Iga Świątek can also indulge in her beloved tiramisu there. Interestingly, the Italian treat at "La Vittoria," located near the Vatican, costs only five euros, just over 21 zł (as of December 2023). As you can see, Świątek did not favor an exclusive, expensive restaurant but a traditional Italian place that focuses primarily on taste.
Moreover, the cheapest pizza at the 22-year-old's favorite spot costs only four euros (17 zł). The spaghetti carbonara, which the Pole tasted in early May, costs 12 euros, just over 51 zł. For the same price, you can also get a beef steak. Świątek has visited this restaurant more than once. During the tournaments in Rome, she dined at "La Vittoria" in both 2022 and 2023. The menu there clearly appeals to her.
It seems Italian cuisine suits Iga Świątek well, as she is performing excellently in Rome once again this year. On Thursday at 3:00 PM, the WTA world number one will play against Coco Gauff for a spot in the final. She previously won the tournament in 2021 and 2022.
