Many of us dream of international trips, but it's worth remembering that our beautiful Poland also hides many tourist spots that are worth visiting. From picturesque mountains to charming lakes, it offers a wealth of landscapes and landmarks that can captivate even the most demanding travelers. One such place is Wleń Castle.
In the town of Wleń, in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, there's a very interesting tourist spot worth visiting alone or with children. This extremely charming castle was built in 1160 by Duke Bolesław the Tall. It has been registered as an important element of Lower Silesia's cultural heritage. It is recognized as the oldest secular castle in that region and the oldest of its kind in all of Poland. Moreover, the hill on which it was built, Castle Hill, is an extinct volcano.
The castle is characterized by a variety of architectural styles, and during the tour, you can climb the observation tower. Visitors receive a map with information about 11 points worth seeing:
The cost of a regular ticket is 10 PLN, and a reduced ticket is 8 PLN. Additionally, you can enjoy extra attractions such as night tours of the castle with torches or guided tours with a guide in medieval costume.
The best way to get to the town where the castle is located is from Jelenia Góra. It's important to note that you cannot park your car directly at the castle, so it's best to start your tour from the market square. There are two different tourist trails leading to the castle: the yellow trail, which takes about 25 minutes and is 900 meters long, and the green trail, which takes a similar amount of time but is slightly longer at 1000 meters. This route is gentler and follows a forest path, making it recommended for families with children. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
