Iga Świątek's Dominance at Roland Garros

During this year's Roland Garros, Iga Świątek showcased her strength. Except for her second-round match against Naomi Osaka (WTA No. 125), where she had to defend a match point, she gave her opponents no chance. She won quickly and effortlessly. The Saturday final confirmed this, as she defeated Jasmine Paolini (WTA No. 7) 6-2, 6-1 in just one hour and eight minutes. Her third consecutive triumph on the Parisian courts also holds significant importance for the entire season.

Iga Świątek Secures Spot in WTA Finals. Yes, Already!

Świątek defended 2000 points in the WTA ranking, solidifying her lead. Her position in the WTA Race ranking, which only considers performances from the beginning of the season, is even better. This ranking determines the eight players who will compete in the WTA Finals. Świątek has already secured her spot in these end-of-season championships.

With her victory, our champion's total points have increased to 7335. This includes her wins in Doha, Indian Wells, Madrid, and Rome. The threshold for automatic qualification is currently 7170 points. This means that Świątek can already book her ticket to Riyadh, where the season finale will take place from November 2 to 9.

Not Even Williams Was This Fast. Iga Świątek Makes Tennis History

There are still almost five months left until the mentioned tournament, making it hard to believe that Świątek qualified so quickly. It's noteworthy that she achieved this faster than anyone in history. The previous record was held by Serena Williams, who secured her spot shortly after the Wimbledon final in 2015 - on July 6, to be exact. Świątek beat this record by nearly a month.

In the WTA Race ranking, Świątek's lead over her rivals is enormous. She leads Aryna Sabalenka by 2977 points. The Belarusian has 4358 points. Currently, Jelena Rybakina is in third place, Coco Gauff is fourth, and the defeated Roland Garros finalist Jasmine Paolini is fifth.
