Taylor Swift's fans have long awaited this moment. The American singer will soon be flying to Poland for a series of concerts at PGE Narodowy during these dates. The Warsaw concerts are part of her "The Eras Tour," and tickets for the three-day event sold out like hotcakes. Unfortunately, even though the fans will be there, Swift might face a significant issue – the sound system during the concerts.
It's no secret that the sound system at PGE Narodowy, to put it mildly, is not the best. Fans of bands like Rammstein and Iron Maiden (both of whom played in Warsaw in 2022) have complained about it. The discussion about the poor sound quality at the Warsaw stadium also flared up after recent Metallica concerts (the band played two shows on July 5 and 7 this year). Greg Price, a sound engineer who works with the band, didn’t hold back his harsh words about the acoustics at PGE Narodowy.
"We have the best equipment ever made, at probably the worst stadium I’ve ever worked at," he said in an interview with "Meyer Sound Polska" magazine, adding that no matter what he or the band did, the acoustics at Narodowy wouldn’t improve. It’s interesting to wonder if Taylor Swift is aware of the sound issues at the Warsaw stadium? She might not realize that she’s facing quite a challenge.
Some time ago, sound engineer Mirosław Michalak spoke to Gazeta.pl about why music sounds so bad at PGE Narodowy. The specialist didn’t have good news and didn’t mince words.
It’s due to a very simple thing – poor venue acoustics. Some people claim that you can fight this by installing a specific sound system that will make the sound great. Well, no – it will be better or worse. Even if we had the best speakers in the world, if you put them in a bucket, they will sound like they’re in a bucket. The system won’t help here at all. Generally speaking, the effect at Narodowy will always be unsatisfactory compared to what could be achieved in a venue designed for musical events,
he said. Michalak also revealed how the acoustics in the venue could be improved and what makes some concerts sound better at the Warsaw stadium than others.
