Polish Taylor Swift fans reached out to the American singer with a request to perform songs they believe would best commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising during her first concert in Warsaw.
We are now just a few hours away from the first of three planned Taylor Swift concerts in Poland in 2024. The next ones will take place on August 2nd and 3rd at PGE Narodowy in Warsaw. Today's event coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, which is being commemorated in the capital.
Due to the historic date, Polish Swifties took to TikTok to suggest songs that Taylor Swift could perform during her first concert. "Hi Taylor! We have a request for you for the first night in Warsaw, which will take place on August 1st, the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. We know that August is important to you, but it’s also important to us because the Warsaw Uprising, if you don’t know, was a major event in World War II," the fans of the American artist began.
"There were very few people left in Warsaw, and it was a battle lost from the start, and people had no hope of winning it—they just wanted to show that they could still fight, that they could do something. So, they resisted the Germans as long as they could, surprised everyone, and were very strong and brave. We still have many survivors, and we commemorate these people every August 1st. So we thought of the two best songs you could sing to honor this event, and they would be 'The Great War' and 'Daylight'. The first one because it’s dramatic and full of struggle and conflict, and the second because it shows the light at the end of the tunnel and the hope that these people brought during those times," they added.
Angelika Mucha, who has already attended several Taylor Swift concerts in Europe, also made a request to the American singer. However, the influencer wasn't referring to the date of the Warsaw Uprising, but rather to her favorite song. "Could you please sing 'Slut!' during any of the concerts for me and other Polish fans? It’s my favorite song, and my biggest dream right now is to hear it... I’m begging on my knees," we hear in the recording.
