When traveling abroad, we often want to try as many local products and dishes as possible. However, sometimes we crave our traditional Polish dishes. When that happens, you don’t need to buy all the necessary ingredients and cook pierogi or rosół yourself. Instead, you can visit a restaurant that offers these dishes. In London, you don’t have to worry about finding our iconic dishes. Just like YouTuber André Traveler, you can visit the restaurant Mamuśka, located in the city center. This is where the content creator decided to try some popular dishes and see if it’s worth a visit.
Taste test of Polish dishes in a London restaurant
André Traveler is a well-known YouTuber and TikToker who bases his career on traveling. As he says, he is in love with Polish culture and has visited our country many times. He has explored major cities and villages to fully get to know our homeland. Although he has tried various traditional dishes while traveling in Poland, he also decides to taste them abroad. In a recently published video, he visited a Polish restaurant located in the heart of London. Mamuśka surprised him with a wide selection of dishes, and he decided to try two of the most popular ones. His choice fell on pierogi and bigos.
When ordering pierogi, he chose a mix of flavors: ruskie, cheese and spinach, pork, beef, and cabbage with mushrooms. Additionally, he asked for all available toppings, which included sour cream, bacon, and onions. This dish cost him 9 pounds, approximately 47 zł. Right after the pierogi, he also got bigos, which in this restaurant can be served with two different sides. You can choose between mashed potatoes or bread. In this case, he chose the potatoes. This dish cost 15 pounds, which is around 79 zł. The creator decided to try each dish, and his reaction said it all. After tasting the bigos, he said:
"Delicious, I really like it. It’s really tasty and seems well-seasoned. I can tell by the color that they use a lot of herbs."
"The sausage has a bit of a salty taste, and it’s really good combined with the cabbage and mashed potatoes. The purée has a buttery, creamy, and delicate flavor."
He also had a few words to say about the pierogi. He noted that they weren’t dry, were well-seasoned, and looked appetizing.
"Wow, delicious. Polish food is really filling. After just two pierogi, I’m full."
Summarizing the entire experience, he concluded that the restaurant did a good job and that the traditional food there was very tasty.
