"The Thaw" is the first Polish Max Original series, which debuted in 2022 in 61 countries. Within the first 10 days, it not only became the most-watched production in Poland but also ranked first in viewership across Europe. Globally, it ranked 14th among the most-watched series on the then HBO Max.
The second season of the series will return to streaming later this year. The premiere of the first episode is scheduled for August 23rd. This time, the police officers from the Szczecin precinct will have to dismantle a human trafficking ring. The investigation will become more complicated when Zawieja discovers that someone from her personal circle might be connected to the criminals.
"The Thaw" is a crime series set in Szczecin. The lead role is played by Katarzyna Wajda, who will once again portray police officer Katarzyna Zawieja. She will be joined by Bartłomiej Kotschedoff, Andrzej Grabowski, Ewa Skibińska, Juliusz Chrząstowski, among others. The second season will also introduce new cast members: Michał Czernecki, Nikodem Rozbicki, Eryk Kulm Jr, Agnieszka Dygant, Mirosław Zbrojewicz, Andrzej Konopka, and Tomasz Schuchardt. The production will consist of 6 episodes.
"Even before I read the script, I was a fan of series like 'Mindhunter' or 'True Detective,' and I was deeply impressed by Emily Blunt's role in 'Sicario.' I thought that maybe this is the atmosphere we want to achieve when we follow the character so closely. We almost delve into their soul, and the camera is not afraid to show their emotions," Wajda, the lead actress in the series, told us.
