Netflix. "The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep"

Netflix announced an entire series of productions from the world of Andrzej Sapkowski's "The Witcher" with the premiere of the first season of the series starring Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra. So far, we've seen not only three seasons of the series but also a live-action prequel ("Blood Origin") and an anime ("The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf"). "Sirens of the Deep" has been in the works for over two years, and it seems that it will finally be released in its final form on the platform soon.

We will once again be treated to an anime, but this time it will be an adaptation of one of the many adventures of the Witcher - Geralt. "Sirens of the Deep" is set to draw from the short story "A Little Sacrifice," where the mermaid Sh'eenaz, Prince Agloval, Geralt, and Dandelion play the main roles. Expect plenty of action, misunderstandings, and tough moral choices, the kind we've come to expect from Andrzej Sapkowski.

For the voice acting, Studio Mir, the production house responsible for the anime, has hired a major star—Doug Cockle, who will reprise his role as Geralt. Cockle is well-known to players of the English version of "The Witcher" games. He voiced Geralt in every installment of CD Projekt Red's games, and his voice, along with Henry Cavill’s famous "hmmm," is recognized worldwide as that of the Witcher.

Unfortunately, "Sirens of the Deep" still doesn't have a confirmed release date. However, as reported by Redanian Intelligence, this might change in September. Mid-month, Netflix plans to hold its annual Geeked Week event, where it is likely that we'll learn when the anime will be available on the platform. Indications are that it could be late 2024. This means that "Sirens" will be released before the fourth season of the live-action series, where we'll see Liam Hemsworth as Geralt for the first time.

More "Witcher," the world can handle it

This is not the end of the news regarding productions from the world created over 30 years ago by Andrzej Sapkowski. A live-action episode or film about the Rats—a bandit group that Ciri was part of—is also in the works. CDPR has also confirmed that it is working on the next, fourth game. "The Witcher Polaris" (the project’s working title) this time will not focus on Geralt's adventures, although he will be present in the game. Doug Cockle himself mentioned this in an interview with Fall Damage:

"We know that Geralt will be part of this game, but the game itself won't focus on him. This time, it won't be a story about him, but I don't know who it will be about exactly. I can't wait to find out. I haven't seen the script yet, but I couldn’t say even if I did," Cockle said mysteriously.

CD Projekt Red is also working on other projects related to "The Witcher." In addition to "Polaris," there are also "Sirius" and "Canis Majoris" in development. The actual names of the games will be revealed at later stages of production - if they indeed see the light of day.
