TVN24 has highlighted the universities where it was the hardest to secure a spot this year. The top universities included the University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, and the University of Gdańsk.
By the end of July, more than 30,000 high school graduates had applied to the University of Warsaw. The university's statistics revealed that the most competitive program was the medical course, where there were 24.6 applicants for each available spot in the full-time, integrated master's program.
The second most competitive field was full-time Japanese Oriental Studies, with 22.8 applicants per spot, followed by the full-time Business and Management program with 19.1 applicants per spot. Other popular fields included Korean Studies, Sinology, and Psychology, all of which had over 10 applicants per spot.
In the first round of admissions at Warsaw University of Technology, there were over 9,800 applicants. TVN24 noted that this number did not include the Płock branch or candidates without Polish citizenship. The most popular field among prospective students was cybersecurity, with 19.1 applicants per spot. Mechanics and Machine Design, as well as Mathematics and Data Analysis, also ranked high in popularity.
At AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, 8,500 people applied. The most competitive field was also cybersecurity, with 10.4 applicants per spot. This was followed closely by Engineering and Data Analysis and Computer Science and Intelligent Systems.
The University of Gdańsk received nearly 30,000 applications for first-degree and integrated master's programs. Criminology was the most competitive, with 13.1 applicants per spot. Journalism and Social Communication came in second with 12.4 applicants per spot. Japanese Studies and Psychology also saw high demand, with over 10 applicants per spot.
