Iga Świątek is about to begin her quest for a sixth Grand Slam title. Alongside Aryna Sabalenka, she is undoubtedly one of the favorites to win the upcoming US Open. Iga Świątek will kick off the US Open on Tuesday, facing Kamilla Rakhimova in the first round. This will be an opportunity for her to prove that she has moved past her recent loss to Aryna Sabalenka. She is also eager to improve on last year's result when she was defeated in the fourth round by Jelena Ostapenko, 6-3, 3-6, 1-6. She was unable to defend the title she won in 2022.

This is the current WTA ranking. Iga Świątek remains in the lead

Experts agree that Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka are the top contenders to win this event. Two years ago, they met in the semifinals, with Świątek coming out on top. This time, she is expected to be in even better form. "Clearly disappointed by the bronze medal in Paris and likely motivated by her semifinal loss to Sabalenka in Cincinnati, she will be looking for revenge over the past few months," said journalist D'Arcy Maine.

Just before the start of the US Open, the WTA organization decided to release a new WTA ranking on Sunday. There were no major changes, and Iga Świątek remains at the top. She currently has 10,695 points, holding a 2,679-point lead over second-placed Sabalenka. Coco Gauff is in third place (3,952 points behind), and Jelena Rybakina is in fourth (4,764 points behind).
