Volodymyr Zelensky Spoke About MiGs for Ukraine. "There Is No Positive Resolution"

The politician noted that "probably Poland has given what it could" but Polish MiG-29s could play a significant role in the war in Ukraine. "We really need your MiGs, your aircraft, because then we won’t lose time training our pilots" - Volodymyr Zelensky argued. This is not the first time the idea of transferring these fighter jets to Ukraine has been raised. "We have raised this issue at all levels, but unfortunately, so far, there is no positive resolution" - the Ukrainian President pointed out.

However, Volodymyr Zelensky assured that Ukraine "will do everything to prevent a rift between our countries" and expressed gratitude for the assistance provided so far.

Every time we evaluate Poland's assistance, it’s worth remembering how things were at the beginning. Poland helped us a lot. I understand that during the elections, Poland was more focused on internal matters, specifically the not-so-pleasant grain issues

- the Ukrainian President noted. However, he emphasized that he "does not believe this will have a fundamental impact on the historic closeness of our nations".

The Ukrainian President also mentioned efforts to obtain permission to shoot down Russian missiles from NATO territory. This issue concerns missiles flying over western Ukraine, especially towards Poland. "As I understand it, Poland hesitates to make such a decision alone and seeks the support of other NATO countries" - the politician said.

Andrzej Duda Promised MiG-29s. Donald Tusk: This Cannot Be at the Expense of Poland's Security

As reported by Gazeta.pl, Andrzej Duda promised Ukraine MiG-29 fighter jets last year. However, Donald Tusk emphasized that Poland could only consider this option if NATO committed to replacing them with other aircraft. "This cannot be at the expense of Poland's security. Unfortunately, after Ukraine, we are in the most demanding situation. That’s why we are so cautious in declaring what we are ready to do" - the Prime Minister said in July.
