American Star Wants to Represent Poland at Eurovision. TVP Responds

American singer and dancer JoJo Siwa, who has Polish roots, recently mentioned that she would like to represent Poland at Eurovision. What initially seemed like a joke is starting to take shape - or perhaps it's just clever marketing.

JoJo Siwa began her career as a child in TV shows related to dance, including the reality show "Dance Moms" with the controversial Abby Lee Miller, who has been accused of inappropriate behavior toward the young dancers and their mothers. In 2017, Siwa signed a contract with Nickelodeon, appearing in various shows and films, and also began recording songs. Recently, she released a song that features a melody reminiscent of the peak disco polo era, and then stated that she wouldn’t mind performing at Eurovision in Polish colors.

Hand in Pants and "Slavic Rhythms"

The former child star, followed by 11 million users on Instagram, is now 21 years old and is trying to find her adult self, seemingly following a path similar to that of Miley Cyrus. Cyrus famously twerked with Robin Thicke on the MTV VMA stage in 2013, which many considered to be crossing the line. Now, Siwa is testing her own and the public’s boundaries, such as by drinking (or pretending to drink) alcohol on stage and putting her hand in her shorts while performing "Yesterdays Tomorrows Today", a song that features disco polo-style rhythms.

The song, in which JoJo Siwa encourages listeners not to waste a moment, cannot represent any country at Eurovision because it was released too early according to the contest's rules. However, the singer, who mentioned her Polish roots on her father's side in a recent interview, still wants to represent Poland with another song - at least that's what she claims. She has even started posting videos of her "preparations" for a Eurovision performance. One of these videos has already garnered nearly 10 million views on TikTok, where she has 45 million followers.

JoJo Siwa at Eurovision 2025? Or Maybe a Duet with Martyniuk First?

Poles quickly caught on to the idea - encouragements to fight for a ticket to Eurovision have already appeared, along with suggestions for performing at "New Year's Eve with TVP2" and even a duet with Zenek Martyniuk. It’s becoming harder to tell if this is just clever marketing or if there’s something more, as JoJo Siwa has recently been followed on social media by both Polish Television (TVP) and the Eurovision organizers.

TVP used the "disco polo" track "Yesterdays Tomorrows Today" in one of their social media videos. In the background, we hear the song sung by Siwa, and the dancer appearing on screen even has a hairstyle similar to the one often seen on the American star. Whether anything will come of this Eurovision collaboration remains to be seen, but TVP has certainly shown that they can react to what's trending on TikTok.

For now, in addition to previous successes such as being named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2020, receiving the Gamechanger award from GLSEN for efforts against bullying, and serving as a judge on "You Can Dance," Siwa can add being featured on a disco polo playlist on Spotify. The singer, dubbed the "disco polo queen," proudly shared this achievement on Instagram.
