Spain has just taken dating to a new level. Now, people don't use Tinder or Bumble anymore. Instead, they go to the grocery store. I don't know how or when it started, but a theory went viral that to meet someone new and flirt, you have to go to Mercadona

- explains Natalia in a short video on TikTok. The pickup method she shared with her followers has delighted many Poles. "Let's organize something like this at Biedronka!" reads one of the comments.

Pineapple, Basket and a Date

Natalia explained that it’s not enough just to go to the store to find love - you have to follow certain rules.

You need to go to the store during peak hours, which is between 7-8 PM. It's very important, even crucial, to participate in this game by placing a pineapple in your basket

- she emphasized. The pineapple is a signal to other shoppers that you're looking for a romantic partner.

From what I've seen in videos, if you want to approach someone, you bump into their cart

- added the Polish woman. She admitted that it looks so comical that she’s tempted to try it herself.

"Let’s Do Something Like This in Poland"

Poles following Natalia's profile agreed that a similar trend should catch on in Polish supermarkets. "This sounds a hundred times better than apps," "Well, it’s great—people used to meet in person for thousands of years until Tinder ruined everything," "Super! At least it’s shifting from the virtual world to the real world," "I like it! A return to real life and nice memories for old age," are just some of the comments. There were even suggestions that stores should capitalize on this trend and create a special pineapple-love zone.
