Robert Lewandowski's Nightmare. This Shows How Bad It Is

Robert Lewandowski, captain of the Polish national team, will not have fond memories of the away match against Croatia in the Nations League. The FC Barcelona star continues his poor scoring form from the past year. These statistics are concerning.

In Michał Probierz's thirteenth match as coach, the Polish national team suffered its third defeat. In the second round of the Nations League, the White and Reds played poorly and lost 0-1 away to Croatia. The only goal came early in the second half from a beautiful free-kick by Luka Modrić.

Robert Lewandowski's Struggles: This Shows How Bad It Is

The Polish team had virtually no offensive weapons in Osijek. Nikola Zalewski was one of the few who performed well. On the other hand, our team captain, Robert Lewandowski, had a weak performance.

A poor showing, though he almost earned Poland a draw. In a crucial play, he handled Josip Sutalo like a pro, pushed him off in the penalty area, controlled the ball, and quickly shot, but hit the crossbar. Before that, it was much worse, and his mistakes were costly... Aside from that, he was isolated from the game and dominated by the Croatian defenders. His teammates didn’t help him, but he didn’t help them either

- wrote Dawid Szymczak, a journalist from Sport.pl, giving Lewandowski a rating of "2" on a scale of 1-6.

Robert pulled off an amazing play. Today, I'm sorry to say, but it wasn't his best game. He probably got the ball two or three times, and he’s always dangerous, we have to admit that

- added Zbigniew Boniek, former president of the Polish Football Association.

Robert Lewandowski has had a poor scoring record for the Polish national team recently. In the past year, he has played twelve matches and scored only one goal from open play - in the 2-0 win against Latvia. Besides that, he converted two penalties. Additionally, the FC Barcelona striker registered three assists during this period (in the Euro 2024 playoff against Estonia, a friendly against Turkey, and a Nations League match against Scotland).

The next match for Poland in the Nations League will be in a month. On October 12, the White and Reds will play at home against Portugal, who lead Group 1 of Division A with six points after two 2-1 wins against Croatia and Scotland.

Poland and Croatia both have three points, while Scotland is at the bottom of the table with zero points.
