The Spanish Have Fallen in Love with Ewa Pajor: "Everything Barcelona Needed"

The admiration for Ewa Pajor seems endless. Although a few days have passed since the Polish player's official debut for Barcelona, the Spanish press still can't stop praising her. "She is everything Barcelona needed, not just now, but for years" - reads an article in the Catalan publication "Sport".

Ewa Pajor made a phenomenal entrance into Barcelona. In the first league match, the Polish striker scored two goals, leading her team to a 3-0 away victory against Deportivo La Coruña. Barcelona scored all their goals in the second half, with Pajor finding the net for the 1-0 and 3-0 goals.

The 27-year-old scored both goals from inside the penalty box. In the 58th minute, Pajor capitalized on a close-range rebound from a teammate's shot. Two minutes before the end of regular time, the Polish forward received a pass from Graham on the right and, again from close range, beat Ines Teixeira Pereira.

After the match, the Spaniards were in awe of Pajor's debut and her ability to be so effective in the opponent's penalty area. Even though three days have passed since the match, the praise has not stopped. Spanish journalist Maria Tikas, writing for sport.es, was particularly effusive in her admiration for Pajor.

Pajor is everything Barcelona needed, not just now, but for years. The Polish striker is the first 'killer' in Barcelona's modern history. She is a specialist in this area, something so hard to find

- Tikas wrote.

Since the 2019 Women's Champions League final in Budapest, coaches Lluis Cortes and Jonatan Giraldez have relied on a different type of player up front. The role of striker in Barcelona has been played by Asisat Oshoala, Jenni Hermoso, Claudia Pina, Bruna Vilamala, Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic, Geyse, Alexia Putellas, Esmee Brugts, Salma Paralluelo, Mariona Caldentey, and Ariana Arias. However, it was only with Mariona as a false nine and Salma on the wing that the team became its strongest version

- Tikas added.

Pajor is different and has a different role. There are few players in the world who can play the striker role like she does. She has proven this in just six matches. In five friendlies and one league match, she has an average of one goal per game. In the first half of the match against Deportivo, she didn't shine much due to a lack of chances in the penalty box. But once she got into the box, she scored two goals. That's exactly why she is here

- Tikas continued.

In recent years, Barcelona has scored fewer goals compared to the number of chances they created. Now, things will be different because their attack is much stronger. Pajor has a good understanding with Graham, whom she knows from their time together at Wolfsburg. The Polish player will bring Barcelona a lot of joy

- she concluded.

Pajor will have another chance to score on Friday. At 20:00, Barcelona will face Real Sociedad.
