Shared experiences undoubtedly bring people closer. The nurses from the maternity ward at Olathe Medical Center know this better than anyone. Sixteen staff members became pregnant around the same time and are expecting children. This surprising coincidence has brought the medical center staff closer together, and the pregnancies have made patients feel much more comfortable during their stay at the facility.
Tabitha Cross, one of the staff members at Olathe Medical Center in the United States, told FOX4 that when staff members began announcing their pregnancies, she felt that every time she came to work, someone was sharing that they were expecting. The pregnancies have also been noticed by the hospital's patients.
Several patients have remarked that almost all the maternity ward staff are expecting. I confirmed that this is indeed the case. It felt like everyone who entered a room was either expecting a baby or had recently given birth
- Cross emphasized.
Tabitha Cross highlighted in her interview with FOX4 that the pregnancies have had a very positive impact on workplace relationships. The nurses share their experiences and have grown much closer. Experiencing pregnancy at the same time has deepened their bonds to the extent that they keep in touch outside of work. Those who have already given birth organize playdates and are keen for their children to grow up together.
It’s really a great thing. You’re going through similar things at the same time, and you can talk about how you’re feeling. This way, you don’t have to go through it alone. Most of the staff understand your concerns, mood swings, and occasional discomfort
- Cross emphasized. The simultaneous pregnancies of the hospital staff also affect their relationships with patients, who, upon seeing so many of them pregnant, feel much more at ease and are more willing to ask for advice.
They ask questions without hesitation, questions they probably wouldn’t have asked under other circumstances
- added Tabitha Cross.
