In 2019, Casey King appeared on the television show "Family by the Ton". As a 39-year-old, he shared his life and battle with extreme obesity. The viewers witnessed his four-year transformation, which was triggered by an unfortunate incident.
Even as a child, Casey struggled with his weight. In high school, he weighed around 130 kg, and it only got worse over time. He didn’t lead an active lifestyle, with his diet consisting mainly of fatty and highly processed foods. After school, he would spend his time in front of the TV and computer, and after graduating, he started working in a fast-food restaurant.
I’ll eat until I die. I wake up at noon and immediately think about food. Then it's TV, video games, and a nap. Over and over again
- he explained on the show. His severe obesity negatively affected his relationships with others, and eventually, King stopped leaving the house altogether.
I was a social outcast. [...] I had just a few friends. Food was the only thing that made me feel happy
- he said on "Family by the Ton".
In 2014, his situation took a dramatic turn. When King was at his heaviest, nearly 400 kg, a critical incident occurred. He became stuck in a shower stall and couldn't get out. He was trapped for several hours.
I was exhausted, I could barely breathe. I couldn't position myself to get out on my own, so I just sat in the shower for 11 hours
- he revealed.
He began his weight-loss journey with gastric bypass surgery. He then adopted a healthier diet and exercise regimen under the supervision of specialists from the show. His hard work and determination paid off, and he successfully lost 260 kg. Casey King is active on social media, where he shares photos of his transformation and motivates others to pursue a healthier lifestyle. In one Instagram post, he reflected:
Unbelievable change. Where I was and where I am today is hard to believe. I’m alive, and I can truly experience life with my family and friends. I can’t get back the lost time, but I can make the most of the time I have left. I just want to be happy with the people I love.
