However, Polish traveler Laura Maria Plichta claims they often face irritating comments. After all, if they are traveling alone, something might happen to them.

Laura Maria Plichta is a Polish traveler who has been exploring the world intensively for the past six years. She’s usually on the road for nine to ten months a year and has visited over 70 countries so far. As she admits, she doesn’t keep an exact count. Importantly, all her travels are solo. And while this may seem unremarkable, women like her often hear one phrase that drives her mad.

"It makes my blood boil when I hear this" - Polish traveler speaks out to her followers

Laura Plichta is also active on social media, where she shares her travel experiences. Recently, she posted a video on TikTok addressing how women who travel solo are treated.

It makes my blood boil when I hear that because I’m alone, I’m somehow asking for this or that — insert any form of violence here

- she said in the video.

Violence cannot be excused or normalized just because a woman does something alone, without a male guardian or a female companion

- she added.

The video’s creator points out that violence is violence, and under no circumstances should the victim be blamed, regardless of what she was doing or how she was dressed. The only person at fault is the perpetrator. Laura Plichta emphasizes that, of course, she was aware of the risks, but after six years of intense solo travel, she remains safe and healthy.

Traveling solo is not an act of bravery

- she concluded.

Six years of traveling, and she’s also written a book about some of her journeys

Laura Plichta is not only a traveler but also the author of a book published in 2023 titled "People Guide Me. 63 Days Sailing Across the Ocean". In the book, she describes her experiences hitchhiking on yachts to countries such as Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador. Naturally, she was traveling alone, though she notes in a comment under her video, "Alone doesn’t mean lonely".
