Szczęsny in Barcelona: A Meeting is Already Being Planned

"As reported by Meczyki.pl, former Poland international Wojciech Szczęsny is returning to action and will sign a deal with one of the best clubs in the world, FC Barcelona. This is the biggest transfer news of recent days in the world of football," wrote Sport.pl journalist Paweł Matys.

The main supporter of Szczęsny’s transfer was reportedly Hansi Flick, who believed he could lure Szczęsny out of retirement and convince him to join the team. The 34-year-old goalkeeper indeed took up the opportunity to play for the Catalan giants, thus reuniting with Robert Lewandowski.

It turns out that Szczęsny is planning an important meeting in Barcelona, in addition to playing for the club. This meeting will involve supporting the injured captain, ter Stegen. Tomasz Włodarczyk from Meczyki.pl shared the details.

"There’s a plan for Szczęsny to meet with ter Stegen in Barcelona, mainly to offer him encouragement. In fact, Szczęsny already did this in a brief statement to Sport," said Włodarczyk. The journalist referred to a short comment Szczęsny gave to the Catalan press.

"I have a lot of respect for Barcelona’s history. It’s one of the best clubs in the world. I understand the difficult situation that has arisen due to Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury, and I believe it would be disrespectful not to consider this opportunity," the former Poland international admitted.

Throughout his career, which only recently seemed to have ended, Szczęsny has played for clubs such as Brentford, Arsenal, Roma, and Juventus.
