Job offers for pig farms in the Mazovia region come with everything: salaries reaching up to 7,000 zlotys, employment contracts, and reasonable requirements. However, finding workers is proving difficult. According to farmers, young people expect "managerial salaries" while showing no willingness to work.
Basic Requirements, High Pay, and... No Interest in Working on a Pig Farm
As described by the strefaagro.pl portal, most job offers from pig farms include responsibilities such as daily care, feeding, watering, and overseeing the health of the animals. Workers are also expected to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. The only requirements are commitment, physical readiness, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Although farmers offer wages of up to 6,000-7,000 zlotys net (depending on experience and commitment), young people show little interest. "People don't want to work; they prefer welfare benefits, they're lazy," commented one farmer to the portal. "They come, look around, and it turns out they have no idea about working with animals," added another farmer.
Competition from German Farms
Polish farm owners are also competing with job offers from German farms. German ads offer wages of nearly 10,000 zlotys gross, along with transportation and accommodation. In many cases, knowledge of the German language is not required.
According to recruitment companies' ads, some pig farms in Germany require workers to work only 15 days per month. The system involves spending one week at work followed by a week at home.
