Nearly four-year-old Madeleine McCann disappeared on May 3, 2007, during a family holiday in Praia da Luz, Portugal. The little girl was sleeping in the hotel while her parents went out for dinner with friends. According to them, they took turns checking on her, but during one visit, she was no longer in her bed. Christian Brueckner, who has been accused of committing five crimes in Portugal between 2000 and 2017, has long been linked to the unsolved case of Madeleine McCann. Investigations into his actions are still ongoing.

Christian Brueckner Allegedly Confessed to Kidnapping "a Certain" Girl

Christian Brueckner is currently serving a sentence for the sexual assault of a woman in 2005. He is also suspected of other crimes, including sexual assaults on a woman in Praia da Rocha and a teenager in Praia da Luz. According to mirror.co.uk, on Tuesday, September 25, Brueckner's former cellmate, Laurentiu Codin, testified in court. Codin stated that Brueckner had told him how he used to break into hotels in Portugal looking for money. In one instance, he supposedly found no money but allegedly kidnapped a child instead. "He said he took a child in Portugal to his car, and at the time, the police with dogs were there, but he managed to drive away," Codin testified.

Christian Brueckner Has Not Been Charged in the Madeleine McCann Case

It’s important to note that Christian Brueckner has not been officially charged in connection with Madeleine McCann's disappearance. However, it was recently revealed that investigators have evidence potentially linking him to her vanishing. This evidence involves email accounts that allegedly contain incriminating material. Investigators noted that evidence from 2007 - the year Madeleine McCann disappeared—had been deleted from the account. Authorities have not shared further details publicly due to the ongoing investigation. The British tabloid also recalled that in 2020, Brueckner allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting underage girls.
