Many people tend to skip breakfast. We often skip this meal because we're in a rush, don't feel hungry, or simply don't have time to prepare a nutritious meal. However, this is a mistake that can impact our weight, among other things.

Slower Metabolism
One of the most frequently searched phrases online is: "How to boost metabolism?" There are several solutions, and one of them is eating a balanced breakfast. If we skip it, our body goes into "survival mode", meaning instead of burning calories, it stores them as fat. If we skip breakfast, we can almost be certain we'll end up snacking out of hunger later in the day. It's been proven many times that fasting isn't beneficial for weight loss and can actually lead to weight gain.
Headaches
Interestingly, the brain consumes the most energy during the day. To function properly, we need to fuel it with the right "fuel" in the form of protein. Skipping breakfast slows brain activity, often making us feel unfocused. We process information more slowly, and mental tasks become tiring.
Irritability and Mood Swings
When we don't provide our body with enough calories, we become irritable and easily agitated. This can affect our relationships, as we're more prone to frustration and stressful situations.
Weakened Immune System
Lately, there's been a lot of talk about immunity. It's well-known that a proper diet plays a crucial role in strengthening it. When the body doesn't receive the necessary nutrients, it becomes more vulnerable to infections. When preparing breakfast, it's a good idea to include fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C, like parsley, bell peppers, or oranges. Oats are also beneficial for the immune system, as they contain beta-glucan, which stimulates phagocytes that fight off bacteria and viruses. On cold days, it's especially important to eat warm breakfasts.
