This is What Tyson Makes a Fortune From. He'll Never Have to Fight Again

Mike Tyson is set to return to the ring in November, but boxing matches are no longer the boxer's main source of income. As it turns out, "Iron Mike" has been running a successful business for some time now, which brings him at least half a million dollars a month.

Tyson had his last professional fight in 2005, where he lost in the sixth round to Kevin McBride, who was seven years younger. Tyson last stepped into the ring in 2020 for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw. In November 2024, Tyson will have another fight, but it’s not boxing that currently generates his income.

Mike Tyson Runs a Business That Brings Him Huge Earnings

Currently, Tyson makes money by commenting and analyzing fights for the MMA event Cage Wars 67, where he works alongside his 24-year-old son, Amir. However, his primary source of income is his company, *Tyson 2.0*, which in 2022 raised $9 million from investors through the sale of cannabis seeds and related products. The company aims to "destigmatize" marijuana, promoting its use as a medicinal treatment to help many sick people. Tyson reportedly earns at least half a million dollars per month from this business.

Our mission is to produce innovative, high-quality cannabis products, known for their purity, precision, and wide availability. By providing consumers with a unique selection of products, *Tyson 2.0 Global* combines an extraordinary balance of quality and affordability in CBD concentrates

In June, Tyson’s company announced that its *Tyson 2.0* cannabis-based products were now available to patients in Germany and the UK. "Due to their therapeutic benefits, three products—Haymaker Haze, NYC Diesel, and Tiger Milk—are being sold and distributed to pharmacies by Nimbus Health. Patients can purchase them with a prescription," the company revealed. Earlier, in March 2024, "Tyson 2.0" opened a café in Amsterdam, where customers can buy products bearing the legendary boxer’s name.

The choice of such an investment may come as a shock, considering Tyson's past struggles with drug addiction, including cocaine. The boxer even fought professionally under the influence of marijuana, such as during his 2000 bout with Andrzej Gołota, where Gołota refused to enter the ring for the third round. The match was eventually declared void as Tyson failed a drug test. After the fight, Gołota complained about illegal blows from Tyson, which the referee ignored. Gołota later discovered he had a concussion, a neck injury, a broken left cheekbone, and a herniated disc.

Mike Tyson Returning to Boxing? He'll Be Back in the Ring and on Netflix

Tyson is set to step back into the ring on November 15, 2024, with the fight being broadcast on Netflix. The bout was originally scheduled for July but was postponed due to Tyson's ulcer issues. He will face Jake Paul, a popular YouTuber, influencer, and boxer who is 27 years younger than Tyson. Should Paul lose, it will be his second career defeat, with the first occurring in 2017 against Tommy Fury, cousin of the famous Tyson Fury.

Despite advice from his wife not to fight, Tyson explained that he isn’t doing it for the money. "I know I don’t need to do this; my wife keeps reminding me of that. The millions I’ll make won’t change my life. I’m stepping into the ring because I’m addicted to glory. I love it when people think about me all day. I’d rather have a short life full of glory than a long one full of darkness. That sums up who I am," Tyson said in an interview with *Esquire*. He has pledged to donate part of his earnings to charity.

Mike Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion, a record that still stands today, as he achieved it at just 20 years old. Throughout his career, Tyson is estimated to have earned around $400 million. However, it didn’t prevent him from declaring bankruptcy in 2003, owing $13 million in unpaid taxes and an additional $9 million in child support. Tyson also has a criminal record—he was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay $30,000 in damages for the 1992 rape of 18-year-old Desiree Washington. He was released after serving 3.5 years for good behavior.
