With so many subscriptions giving access to hundreds, if not thousands, of different titles, it can still be hard to know what to pick.

Browsing through the catalogs of six different streaming services available in Poland gave me a bit of a headache. There's plenty to choose from, yet it's difficult to decide what's truly worth investing time in. After diving deep into Netflix, Max, Disney+, Prime Video, SkyShowtime, and CANAL+, I've managed to select the best titles available in 2024. Many are trusted classics, but there are also some exciting recent releases.

Netflix: Best Series to Watch

Netflix's vast offering aims to appeal to everyone, following the principle of "something for everyone." The platform churns out diverse local content, and while the quality varies, a few standout titles have emerged over the past year.

1. "1670"

  • At the top of my recommendation list is the Polish comedy series "1670", featuring Bartłomiej Topa as Jan Paweł, a self-absorbed, comically foolish nobleman. Set in the 17th century, Jan Paweł is the half-owner of a village, where he lives with his family. The series' mockumentary style has made it divisive - some adore it, while others hate it - but it even won an Eagle Award for Best Fictional Series.

2. "Rojst: Millennium"

  • Jan Holoubek's third and final season of Rojst is superb. Millennium neatly ties up the crime drama set in 1980s Poland, delivering a rich narrative with excellent performances.
