Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8, 2022, at Balmoral Castle, with the news made public later that evening. Earlier that afternoon, the Palace had already shared concerns about the Queen's health. Several weeks after her death, the official death certificate was released, stating she had died of natural causes, with her advanced age noted as the cause. However, in his latest book, Boris Johnson suggests that Queen Elizabeth II had cancer.
Boris Johnson served as the Prime Minister of the UK from 2019 to 2022, resigning on July 7 and remaining in office until September 5, when Liz Truss was chosen as his successor. Johnson last saw Queen Elizabeth II on September 6, just two days before her death. In his upcoming book, "Unleashed", excerpts of which were shared by "The Daily Mail", Johnson recalls that encounter.
I had known for a year or more that she had a form of bone cancer, and the doctors were concerned that her condition could suddenly deteriorate at any moment
- the politician states. The former Prime Minister also mentioned that the Queen’s secretary, Edward Young, informed him that her health had "deteriorated somewhat over the summer."
Johnson recalls that during their final meeting, the Queen was smiling throughout, and there was no indication that her illness was affecting her demeanor. However, he noticed changes in her appearance. "She seemed paler and more stooped, with dark bruises on her hands and wrists, likely from IVs and injections," he added. These marks, mentioned by Johnson, are indeed visible in the last official photograph of Queen Elizabeth II, taken that same day, during her meeting with Liz Truss.
As "People" magazine notes, Boris Johnson is not the first person to publicly mention that Queen Elizabeth II may have been seriously ill before her death. In 2022, royal biographer Gyles Brandreth addressed the issue in his book *Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait*. Brandreth suggested that there were numerous speculations indicating that Queen Elizabeth II had been suffering from a rare form of cancer known as multiple myeloma, which is characterized by changes in the bones.
