The classic apple pie recipe involves making a shortcrust or semi-shortcrust dough, combined with grated apples and a large amount of aromatic cinnamon. However, this version is very demanding and time-consuming. Not everyone has time to prepare it, even though they might crave it. Fortunately, there’s a recipe that allows you to make it quickly. It’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to spend hours in the kitchen.

To make the pie using this recipe, follow the rule of three cups. Thanks to this, you won’t have to knead the dough, and you won’t find any eggs in it either. Some might say that such a pie can't possibly work, but I assure you, it’s even better than the traditional version.

Recipe for the "3-Cup" Apple Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of semolina
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 6 large apples
  • 4 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 cup of milk
  • Butter
  • A pinch of salt

Preparation:

  1. Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the sugar, and the semolina. Also, add a pinch of salt and the baking powder. Mix well.
  2. Wash, peel, and cut the apples into smaller pieces. Remove the seeds and grate the apples on a coarse grater. Add the lemon juice and cinnamon to the apples and mix thoroughly to combine the ingredients.
  3. Grease a baking pan with a thin layer of butter. Then, spread 1/4 of the dry ingredient mixture on the bottom and press it down slightly. Layer 1/3 of the apples on top of the mixture. Repeat this process until all ingredients are used, with the last layer being the dry mixture.
  4. Pour the pre-warmed milk over the prepared layers. To ensure the liquid reaches every part of the cake, pierce it with a fork.
  5. Finally, place the finished cake in an oven preheated to 180°C and bake for about 45-50 minutes.
  6. After baking, let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it with ice cream or powdered sugar.
