In the 63rd minute of the Poland vs. Portugal match, Cristiano Ronaldo was substituted by Diogo Jota. Just seconds before Ronaldo left the field, a fan ran onto the pitch, rushed towards the Portuguese player, and wanted to take a photo with him. The star halted the security, allowed the photo, and then proceeded to the bench. It turns out the fan had a detailed plan.
The fan who managed to take the photo with Ronaldo is Filip Brocki from Ligota Mała near Oleśnica in Lower Silesia. He was celebrating his 20th birthday, and the picture with the legend was his present. He meticulously planned the event, as he revealed in an interview with gol24.pl. Initially, Brocki had hoped to take a photo with his idol at the hotel, where he had booked a night for 1000 złotys, but he didn't succeed. He then decided to storm the field at the National Stadium.
"I've wanted to do this for many years. I thought about it when I was little, back when Real Madrid played Fiorentina at the National Stadium. But at that time, I was underage, and my parents stopped me," he explained. To get the photo with Ronaldo, he bought VIP Silver tickets after carefully analyzing the situation.
"There were more security guards in the VIP Gold section because that's where the players came out from. I analyzed everything. I watched similar situations and saw how he reacts when someone approaches him on the field. I knew the game had to be going well for Portugal because there were times when Cristiano refused a photo," he explained.
Later, he decided to jump onto the field in the second half, just before Ronaldo left for the bench. "About five meters from him, I slowed down. 'Por favor, Cris, foto,' I said in a calm tone. At that moment, he handed over the captain's armband to a teammate. I made a short video, from which I later took a photo. He said he'd give me an autograph after the game. He put his arm around me and said, 'Don't worry, everything will be fine. Come with me to the line,'" the 20-year-old revealed.
After the match, the fan was handed over to the police, and on Sunday, he was even taken to a detention center in Grodzisk Wielkopolski. His hearing took place that Sunday, and the court imposed a fine of 5,000 złotys and a two-year stadium ban across Poland. "I can't, for example, go to a Śląsk Wrocław match now, but the ban doesn't apply abroad, and I'm a Real Madrid fan, so I can fly there for a game," the proud fan said.
