A goal for Poland in the fifth minute, three conceded goals in six minutes, a spectacular comeback, and a brutal foul on Robert Lewandowski – the Poland-Croatia match was packed with emotions. The Polish national team came back from a 1-3 deficit to end the game 3-3. Though they ultimately fell short of three points, the result feels like a turning point. The internet was buzzing throughout the entire game.
"This match is crazy, but huge applause for the comeback from a long journey," summarized former TVP Sport director Marek Szkolnikowski.
"If the Nations League is more about the performance than the result, about making progress, then the first half against Croatia was by far the best moment of Probierz’s team so far," said Maciej Łuczak from the Meczyki.pl portal.
"It was the kind of match where the only thing missing was a missed penalty and a goalkeeper’s goal in added time," commented Krzysztof Marciniak from Canal + Sport.
"Lewandowski miraculously kept his leg in one piece, and Livaković, with a clueless expression, spreads his arms and claims he doesn’t understand. You’d need a negative IQ to question something like that," remarked Szymon Janczyk from Weszło.com after the brutal foul on the Polish captain.
"For such disgraceful tackles in something like the Nations League, I’d suspend players for a long time. Dude, you're playing for nothing, and you do something like that. Get lost," added Damian Smyk from the same editorial team.
Kacper Urbański, who assisted on Piotr Zieliński’s opening goal, received a lot of praise. "Kacper Urbański is a diamond who shouldn’t be sitting on the bench. Apart from Zalewski, no other player under Michał Probierz’s tenure has been as flashy and consistent," commented Radosław Laudański from Weszło.com.
"I don’t care if and how much Kacper Urbański plays for his club. Since his debut with the national team, he’s been one of its leaders, undeterred by his age or the quality of the opponent. This is the kind of player I want to see in the starting lineup for Poland every time – he’s earned it, and he’s essential," concluded Szymon Janczyk from Weszło.com.
"What a display from Urbański. Lively, looking for unpredictable and unconventional plays, great with the ball, able to play in tight spaces. It’s a joy to watch him. He must play, and we must utilize him properly. Świderski doesn’t convince me. Again, no Lewandowski, and we’re playing well," wrote commentator Maciek Szcześniewski.
