Exploring Poland doesn't have to be boring—quite the opposite! This is perfectly illustrated by the Wonders of Poland poll organized by National Geographic. However, it wasn't the editors who chose the finalists, but the readers, who could vote for their favorite places. This way, real gems were chosen, which should be on your "to visit in 2024" list.
National Geographic has announced the results of the Wonders of Poland 2024 contest. The winners were chosen by the readers, but residents of the regions, travel enthusiasts, guides, teachers, and tourist organizations helped in the search for the most interesting places. Together, they created a unique list of places and attractions that are sure to impress almost any tourist. 48 places competed for the title of "new wonder", and there were as many as 258,000 votes cast, proving that domestic tourism is very popular.
We have no doubt that 'Wonders of Poland' is the biggest poll in our country aimed at promoting still underappreciated places. This year, even more people participated than last year. The competition was close to the end, and each of the over 250,000 votes cast for the nominated places could have influenced the outcome
- commented Łukasz Załuski, editor-in-chief of "National Geographic Polska".
It is also worth noting that 16 "New Wonders of Poland" were highlighted. Each destination and mentioned place is worth recommending and visiting, especially in the upcoming summer. The list is as follows:
The Lower Silesian Voivodeship can boast many attractions, but the Srebrna Góra Fortress is a true unique. Interestingly, it is the largest mountain fortification on the Old Continent, which will certainly pleasantly surprise history enthusiasts. The place offers breathtaking views and a vast green area. The fortress is an exciting destination for both friends and family - everyone will find something interesting here.
The Tuchola Forest is another unique attraction, this time in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The national park is a popular choice among tourists from Poland and beyond. It is the largest complex of pine forests in the country, often called the green lungs. Walks here are exceptionally charming, filling one with peace and positive energy. The Łańcut Castle (Subcarpathian Voivodeship) is another spot worth noting and visiting in the summer of 2024. It is one of the most valuable aristocratic residences in Poland, where you can enjoy beautiful architecture and stunning gardens.
Lidzbark Warmiński (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) is called the Pearl of Warmia. Interestingly, it was the capital of Warmia until the 19th century. The place offers thermal springs and graduation towers. In the city center, you can admire the castle, known as the "Wawel of the North".
