Father Rafał Główczyński, known on social media as the "Neighborhood Priest", opened his café in Warsaw some time ago. The café is located at Most Poniatowskiego 06. Interestingly, it may be the only café in Poland without a price list. The owner simply asks patrons to pay whatever they can afford.
But the lack of prices isn’t the only thing that makes Father Główczyński’s café unique.
The café's purpose is to help people and bring a little smile to their faces. We have a group of homeless people who voluntarily act as security for the area. They help set things up in the morning and keep an eye on the 'Circus.' We try to support them. We also have visitors who can’t go to other restaurants because it’s too difficult for them to be in places where alcohol is served. We host AA meetings here as well
- he told Onet Kobieta in an interview.
In the same conversation, the priest mentioned a particularly generous customer. While the café is funded by the "Na Blokach" Foundation, such guests provide significant support.
Recently, a family of six came by. They took something for everyone and paid with a smile. That made me very happy because I opened the café with people like them in mind. There was also a time when someone ordered a lemonade for 5,000 PLN. We gladly welcome guests like that too. These occasional acts of generosity allow us to keep our operation going
- he said.
Father Rafał Główczyński has been active on social media for years. He has a YouTube channel and a TikTok account. He emphasizes the importance of connecting with people who are not involved with the Church.
Sometimes people tell me, 'Father, you should spend more time with those who are in the Church, not chasing after those who have turned away from it.' Of course, those who are in the Church are wonderful, beautiful people, but they are there. I feel we also need to seek out those who have drifted away or are lost. I believe we need to reach out to them, talk to them, and be with them
- he said in an interview with Aleteia.
