Łukasz Piszczek spoke after the match, revealing he wanted to invite Lewandowski

Ultimately, Błaszczykowski's team won 5-4. After the game, Piszczek, who played for Borussia from 2010 to 2021 and became a club legend, spoke about the event. He admitted he was emotional and added that he had planned to invite Robert Lewandowski to the match.

I won't hide it, tears came. I couldn't hold it in. I never imagined we would fill the stadium. It's clear that the fans appreciate us, which is very touching. I also think Juergen Klopp's presence generated a lot of interest, as did Mats Hummels, Nuri Sahin, and Marcel Schmelzer. We talked to other players, but some clubs didn't allow them to come. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski and Ivan Perisić are playing matches for their national teams on Sunday

- Piszczek told WP SportoweFakty.

Piszczek is currently an assistant coach under Nuri Sahin at Borussia Dortmund. As he revealed, he wants to focus on his coaching career in the future.

Is Borussia a long-term project? I'd like to say "yes," but in this profession, you have to be prepared for different scenarios. I definitely plan to settle into coaching for the long term. I'm doing it with great passion

- he added.

After two rounds of the season, Borussia Dortmund is in fourth place in the table with four points. Their next match is this Friday when they face Heidenheim.
