The stars of "Beverly Hills 90210" didn't speak for 18 years. Now, they're addressing who was to blame

Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green, who played a couple in love on Beverly Hills 90210 for years, recently cleared the air on why they didn't speak to each other for 18 years. The actors met during the recording of the podcast Oldish, where Green asked Spelling why she thought they lost contact after the show's finale in 2000.

I remember our last conversation and the last thing we said to each other before those 18 years. I cried

- the actress recalled, as quoted by US Weekly.

I remember crying because I knew we would lose touch, and we were so close. It felt almost like a divorce or something

- she added. Green responded that he had tried to remain friends with Spelling but felt she wasn’t interested.

Tori Spelling recalls the last conversation with Green before their long break: "I cried"

I remember stopping by [your then-boyfriend and co-star Vincent Young’s house] to see you a few days after we wrapped, trying to stay in touch. But after a while, I just never heard back

- Green explained.

Then at the 90210 DVD premiere party, you were with [your now estranged husband] Dean [McDermott], and I was with [now ex-wife] Megan [Fox], and you never said hello

- shared Green, who played David in the show. He added:

It was like, ‘She just doesn’t want to be my friend.’ That’s really how I felt.

The Beverly Hills 90210 actors blamed their former relationships for the gap in their friendship

Spelling also pointed out that their then-relationships had an impact on the weakening of their bond. At the start of Beverly Hills 90210, which premiered in 1990, Spelling was dating Green. By the time the final season aired, she was in a relationship with Young, who joined the show in 1997.

I got lost in that relationship, just like I had in past ones. That relationship wasn’t good for me, and by the end, things got complicated and weren’t going well

- she said about her relationship with her co-star Noah, whom she split with in 2001 after two years together. Spelling admitted she knew Green wasn’t a "fan" of the relationship, even though he was friends with Young.

At the time, Green was with Vanessa Marcil, who played Gina in the final two seasons. The two were together from 1999 to 2003 and have a son, but Spelling didn’t approve of the relationship. She felt Green wasn’t treated well by Marcil.

Watching that relationship from the perspective of a friend who loves someone so much was frustrating

- she reflected years later.
