You've probably experienced situations where certain shows captivated you from the very first moments, while others, despite excellent production and star-studded casts, couldn't spark your interest. IMDb has compiled a list of the most-watched TV series in history. What titles made it into the top 10? There are some surprises.
The titles that made it to the podium shouldn’t surprise anyone, as they usually dominate such rankings. At the very top is the adaptation of the iconic book series A Song of Ice and Fire by American author George R.R. Martin. We're talking about Game of Thrones, created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss from 2011 to 2019 for the HBO streaming platform. The eight-season saga of noble houses has so far garnered 331 nominations and won 127 prestigious awards. Despite the passage of time, its phenomenon remains strong, as evidenced by the viewership of its prequel, House of the Dragon.
The next spot in the ranking belongs to Netflix's absolute hit, Stranger Things, which landed in the service’s library in July 2016. This production blends adventure, horror, and science fiction elements and is nearing its end. The fifth and final season is currently in production. Completing the podium is the equally popular The Walking Dead, known in Poland as Żywe trupy. Based on the comic series of the same name, the story is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies.
The ranking also includes the Netflix adaptation of Jay Asher's novel 13 Reasons Why, starring Katherine Langford and Dylan Minnette. It tells the story of a teenage girl who, before taking her own life, records 13 reasons on tape explaining her decision.
In 5th place is the multi-award-winning series The 100, which deals with nuclear war. Further down are shows like Orange Is the New Black, Riverdale, and Grey’s Anatomy. Honors also went to the 2014 sci-fi series The Flash from the Arrowverse franchise and Arrow.
